Clever & Cute Storage

January 28, 2011

Nurseries are typically small spaces so its best to fill them with furniture that does double duty. Here, an Ikea Expedit bookcase is fashioned into a stylish change table with storage. I love the little pink handles and the galvanized buckets.

Oh So Pretty

January 18, 2011

Hello dear neglected Little Folk Design blog. I hope to do better with you in 2011 and post more frequently. Here’s a pretty picture for today:

The white painted frames are such a great idea, as is the hanging bird cage. And what is it with twin beds lately? I’m loving these rooms built for two, especially rooms for little girls that feature such pretty curvy headboards.

Oh my. If I was a little girl, this would be at the top of my Christmas Wish list. Estate Wagon from Restoration Baby & Child.

Room For Two

November 23, 2010

This is a great gender-neutral room designed for twins. They’ve really maximized the space by pushing the beds beneath the window. I like how the beds face each other too. And look at all that play space on the floor!

This is the sweetest birthday I’ve seen in a long time. So ethereal and pretty and pastel! Found via Hostess with the Mostess.

Play Kitchens Galore

November 9, 2010

I just realized I never shared pics of Chloe’s play kitchen here on the blog! You might have seen pics on my other blog, but here are recent ones with all three finished pieces. We are really happy with how these turned out. Ana White’s plans are so simple to use… I highly recommend giving them a try if you’re the least bit handy!

Ana was kind enough to feature our kitchen on her blog along with others. That’s the cool thing about Ana’s plans… you can customize them with paint and details to suit your taste! Here’s some other takes on the same play kitchen plans:

Robin’s kitchen…I love all the counterspace! And a dishwasher and pantry too!

Being Brook’s kitchen…the girly details make me swoon. Love the crystal handles, the scalloped backsplash, and the perfect pink colour!

Mary’s kitchen…subtle differences make this one stand out, like the double doors under the sink and the rounded oven window. And how cute is that picture window & flowers above!

And one of the first incarnations, the Crafting Chicks play kitchen. The fabric sink skirt and paint colour is just perfect.

And my favourite, Catherine’s play kitchen. Love the beadboard front, the two-tone paint, and the apron front sink with sink stopper! Amazing.

Do check out Ana’s site for the full play kitchen roundup. I’m betting you’ll be inspired to make one yourself!

Scandi Sweet

November 8, 2010

How gorgeous are these nursery inspiration photos from stylist Susanna Vento? They are so clean and simple with an unmistakable fresh and young Scandinavian look. I love the judicious use of colour and natural materials. The painted crate art and lettered storage boxes could make a great DIY project.

This delicate paper mache sailboat by Ann Wood makes me dream of far-away lands and nautical adventures. Won’t you join me?
